The interlining gives the garment better support, but also plays a role in the long-term preservation of the shape. It can also be used to stabilize the line of some seams, so for example the slit reinforced with an intermediate lining keeps its straight line, and if properly lined, the line of the neckline does not stretch.
Interlinings can basically be divided into two large groups. Interlinings that can be sewn on or sewn in (for example, screen canvas to fit under thicker fabrics or organza in thin materials) are relatively rarely needed.
The iron-on interlining, on the other hand, is practically indispensable for successful sewing. Moreover, they can be handled easily and quickly.
LOCATION OF THE LINER
Ainterlining can be used in several functions, but the goal in each case is that one surface is stronger, more stable, and holds better than the rest of the material. Even before cutting, soft, sparsely woven materials can be completely reinforced with a thin interlining. Most of the time, however, we only use it to underline certain parts, edges, and seam lines.
IRONING TEST
Before cutting out the interlining, perform an ironing test on a small piece of remaining material. In doing so, we examine whether the interlining adheres perfectly to the material, as well as how the material behaves as a whole when reinforced with an interlining. The IRONING TEST is also good for finding out if the adhesive material of the interlining or the edge of the interlining is showing through to the color of your fabric. If by chance it is, our answer is a lighter, thinner type.
